“Slow Emotion”, a documentary film about singer-songwriter Martha Johnson (Martha And The Muffins + Martha Johnson And Company) and her experiences living with Parkinson’s disease. Martha and a group of other performers living with Parkinson’s disease set out to create and record a song that embodies their experience and perspective. “Empathy, not sympathy” perfectly sums up their message. In this episode, Lorraine discusses her experience as an outreach worker for Sanctuary Toronto, and her hope that people become more curious about the social policies that lead to homelessness, and ultimately premature and preventable death. At a time of immense loss, Lorraine, to echo Mariame Kaba, is focused on hope as a discipline, and the belief that current realities can and should be better.
Despite the constant call to shelter in place, within Tkaronto/Toronto, more than 8,000 people remain unhoused. Generation Homeless is a series dedicated to the crises that rampant real estate speculation created across Turtle Island; particularly as lived and experienced by youth.

In this episode, Chris discusses his “skydive through life” wherein his premature removal from the child welfare system resulted in his first experience of homelessness at sixteen. He has been perpetually homeless ever since and is desperate to secure a more permanent home for him and his dog, Casper.

In this episode, Adrianna discusses the “eternity of death” that is settler colonialism. From the child welfare system, homelessness to premature death, she is candid and poised in her description of state-sanctioned violence and the intergenerational trauma that has attempted to define her life as a Two-Spirit Indigenous person.

In this episode, Amy discusses her experience of homelessness in Toronto amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Her experience is shaped by colonial violence—specifically the residential school system, child welfare and addiction—but she has retained optimism for a future life more liveable for her and her three-year-old child.
Despite the constant call to shelter in place, within Toronto, more than 8,000 people sleep inches apart—and these are the fortune few. Generation Homeless is a series that takes an intimate look at the impact of the unhoused crisis within Canadian cities; particularly as lived and experienced by youth.

This documentary shines a spotlight on the special bond between Canta Arya and Providence Manor. For more than a decade, students with Canta Arya School for Strings have been performing for residents at Providence Manor. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school would host as many as 20 concerts a year at the long-term care home.
The two organizations teamed up again and produced a documentary on their unique collaboration called Resonance: Music Across the Ages. It shines a spotlight on how the power of music brings these generations together to create special bonds.
The documentary was originally to be shot during a live indoor concert last year, but because of COVID-19 safety protocols the school was not allowed to perform inside the home. Knowing how beneficial this collaboration is, the musicians have been bringing the music to residents with outdoor and virtual concerts throughout the pandemic. Resonance: Music Across the Ages was shot during a live outdoor performance at Providence Manor in August 2020.

'For What It's Worth' is the second song reimagined by MatM from the Popguru Sound & Vision multi-artist album, 'COVERAMA'. Not only is Buffalo Springfield’s 1966 classic ‘For What It’s Worth’ timeless in its own right, but Stephen Stills’ poignant lyrics are more relevant than ever. Over the ensuing decades his words have lent themselves brilliantly to constant reinterpretation depending on who the artist is covering the song, their own sensibilities and the times in which they find themselves. Gun violence is an ongoing societal blight, a perverse virus perpetuated by hypocrites mouthing their meaningless recitations of "thoughts and prayers”. With this in mind, our interpretation is slower, darker and considers the possibility that events that were once rare and unacceptable are now met with a shrug of indifference. The Martha and the Muffins version of 'For What It’s Worth' will be available worldwide on January 19, 2024. https://marthaandthemuffins.lnk.to/fo... “Dreaming is one of my favourite Blondie songs and I’ve always wanted to cover it. My version takes some of the new wave elements of the original, but slows it down and gives the track a very lush & dreamy treatment (lots of pad synths and spacey guitars). I also really connect with the idea of ‘dreaming is free’ as a reminder that our imaginations are boundless and we have a built-in space to go to whenever we want to escape reality.” SmartURL: https://smarturl.it/julianaeyedreaming Dreaming will be released on the album COVERAMA on The Confidence Emperors label on May 20, 2022.
